Need computer video help

I have a fairly new computer with 4gig of ram but when I try and play a video, such as something off YouTube it only plays a few seconds and then has to stop and catch up. My son is on the same connection and doesn't have a problem. I do not have other programs running and I restarted my computer with the same results. What do I need to do? I am not a computer tech so the simpler answer the better, Jeff
It will play a DVD just fine.

Try updating your flash player plugin and try a different web browser such as chrome or firefox.
