Fly fishing on flats vs bottom fishing in Seychelles?

I’ve always loved exploring shallow waters while on holiday, so when I heard about reef fishing in Seychelles, I got really curious. A few years ago in the Caribbean, I tried fishing over shallow flats and saw some amazing fish just under the surface, but I never did actual reef fishing. Now I’m thinking of going to Seychelles and want to know how different it is — is it just about standing on the boat and dropping lines, or is there a real adventure exploring reefs and seeing all the marine life while fishing?

I can totally relate — my first time there was an eye-opener. Reef fishing in Seychelles is really more than just catching fish; it’s like a full reef fishing adventure. The fish variety is incredible, and you often see the coral formations and smaller reef critters while waiting for a bite. For a good overview of what to expect and the best spots, check https://charterclick.sc/our-services/fishing-seychelles — the site explains how trips are organized, what gear is provided, and which areas are ideal for different types of reef fishing. Personally, I loved the mix of sport and sightseeing; it felt like every cast came with a mini snorkeling tour.

I’m just chiming in because this thread caught my eye. I haven’t done reef fishing, but I did spend a lot of time kayaking around the Seychelles islands. Even without fishing, just paddling near the reefs and watching schools of fish, rays, and tiny colorful critters was mesmerizing. Honestly, the area seems magical for any water activity, not just fishing, and it makes me want to plan another trip.
