Fivestory And DADADaily Founder Claire Olshan Wants To Help You Raise Your Entertainment IQ
DADADaily began as Claire Olshan’s elevated snack brand. These aren’t the snacks you grew up with, at least not the ones I grew up with. No peanut butter and jelly on Saltine crackers, greasy potato chips or M&M’s. Olshan’s idea of snacking is far more elegant and healthy, which is a departure from the popular concept of snacking.
Olshan served up crunchy Brussels sprouts, which look and taste like the ubiquitous appetizer on so many trendy Manhattan menus, thin crispy wisps of the green vegetable. There’s also cauliflower popcorn. The only thing it has in common with real popcorn is the trace of salt it leaves on your fingertips, which begs licking.
At the time of the launch, Olshan sold a Dada-style head filled with chocolate that could also be repurposed as a tray for serving the Brussels sprouts and cauliflower popcorn, elevating snacking to an art. Not for nothing is the brand named after the art movement formed during the First World War in Zurich.
“Oddly, it was always the plan to become an entertaining snack business. The vision was to help customers experience the brand’s full potential,” said Olshan. “There’s teaching – we give them the bowls, snacks and serving spoons and take our world [and they make it their own.]”
Now, there’s the cauliflower popcorn and chocolates in truffle shapes, and a Let Us Entertain You board. pg slot auto
Olshan asked some style-savvy friends to choose items to pair with the board for a complete dinner party bundle. Oscar de la Renta creative director Laura Kim, Yardy founder and Bon Appetit host DeVonn Francis, food artist and photographer Jill Burrow, Casa Bosques chocolates founder Rafa Prieto, and Man Repeller founder Leandra Medine are supplying revolving curations once a month.
