"Dashain" means "tenth", originally from Hinduism. Dashain background is to celebrate Shiva’s wife Parvati playing Durga, the goddess of war, and holding weapons to fight against the demon Mahishasura for 9 days. Finally she killed the demon on the 10th day. During the Dashain festival, there are many customs, such as "setting holy pots", "presenting sacred flowers", "swinging" and so on. In parts of Nepal and India, Durga is worshipped and provided animal sacrifices.
