Country Music Teresa Williams song??

This morning on WABC radio (Imus) I heard a country song "The Long Black Veil" sung by Teresa Williams. I'd like to get a CD with this song on it. I have this song by Johnny Cash on a CD and like it a lot, but the version sung by Williams is awesome.

I've googled and researched for this info for the past hour and can't find any information as to if it is available on a CD. It must be available somewhere since it was on the radio - not live. I also tried contacting WABC radio to no avail.

BTW I never listen to Imus, but sometimes he has some great country music and I was checking it out when this song was playing.

Thanks so much! Yes, I believe it's her and I emailed her asking where to find the recording. I did more research and discovered she had done this song with Levon Helm, a singer/band leader who recently returned from a long absence as he lost his voice when he had cancer of the throat. His voice returned and he is back on the stage. I also found a very poor recording of him with a female vocalist who I think is "Anna Lee." However, it doesn't sound anything like what I heard this morning on Imus. This recording of Levon's band is live and the quality is very poor along with the fact that it is a fraction of the real song. What I heard this morning had to be professionally done - and much improved as it was very different. And the singer was Teresa Williams. Actually Imus plays it all the time - this morning he commented that he loves Teresa William's version.

This is very strange. I've done so much research and originally could find nothing much on Teresa Williams. Last night I found a lot of links about her - just singing this song with Levon Helm. However there is NO information on or copies of this song that I can find. I've gotten no email replies from either website.

For the life of me, I can't find an email/contact for Imus on WABC. Every link to contacts/emails, I get an error page - for 2 days now. Imus has been promoting this song, and the recording is very professional and good, and he keeps saying what a wonderful job she does with it. It has to be around somewhere. I have to stop looking as I'm getting obsessed with finding it!!!!!

Smoking cigarettes certainly didn't help her looks or voice much. What a wonderful voice she had back then! She was also very young 20 or so years ago. But then, so was I.

Anyway... I have this song on my mp3 player, done by Cash alone. To be honest, it is OK but not one of my favorites. Maybe I'll check out the Williams version tonight.

The version I posted below the Johnny Cash version on the post above is not Teresa Williams, but Anna Lee. I posted it because I think it's the same band that recorded this song with Williams as the singer. As a matter of fact the video on the post is very poor quality all around. The version I heard on Imus Show was very professional - good music - and nothing like this one. There is no comparison to the Imus recording and this one.

If you find the recording Imus played, I'd love to know!!!!!!! I can't find his email - keep getting error when I try the email from WABC website.

Also - in checking out the Johnny Cash/Joni video I watched a video about Joni Mitchell. It was the story of how she didn't know where her daughter was for years, even since she was a baby. She finally found her (adult now) after years of searching. The recording said she never made this public until she found her daughter. It didn't say if she had given her up for adoption or what had happened to her, but it showed her daughter and Joni together - and everyone said how Joni once again began to look happy. It's probably during those years when she couldn't find the daughter that she aged so much, smoked, etc. If you want to see the video of Joni and her daughter - click into the Johnny Cash/Joni link and you will see other videos listed on the side - and this one is included.

That's not the Teresa Williams you're looking for. That one is a singer/songwriter/musician out of Raleigh, NC. The Teresa Williams who sang with Levon Helm is part of his Levon Helm Band out of Woodstock, NY. She's the wife of Larry Campbell former Bob Dylan guitarist. She plays along with Larry in the Levon Helm Band. She doesn't have any recorded CD's on her own that I'm aware of. She sang on Levon's recent Grammy winning Dirt Farmer CD; you can hear more of her voice there, but Long Black Veil isn't included on the CD. I saw her recently at Wanee Festival in Florida with Levon and she did the song there too. She doesn't have a website of her own but is sometimes mentioned on a website for Larry. http://members.cox.net/larrycampbell2000. I've been a fan of Larry's for many years as I'm an old, old fan of Dylan from the 60's. Hope this helps.
