Can you pass the 3rd grade?

Someone sent this link to me at work yesterday. It took me a few tries, but I eventually made it to the 4th grade.

Re: Can you pass the 3rd grade?

Got it! One cool thing about road trips is relating to a lot of those states by having been thru them, at least. I did try to put New Hampshire and Vermont backwards but still had enough time to fix that. It's a hassle trying to cross those states from east to west so that's my excuse. Oh, it doesn't recognize the UP as part of Michigan. I guess that might be true for some residents too...

Took me 2 times. Fitting some of those New England states in is hard!

Like you Steve, my travels and fascination with the geography of this country helped me out

There's an interesting thought. I've never been to Alaska but read a lot about it and seen tons of pictures. Probably won't make it there until I can do it for at least a couple weeks (when will that happen?). I think the UP is probably the only thing close to it, and it's within a day's drive. I wish it wasn't so far away but on the other hand if it were closer (to here, Chicago, Milwaukee, etc) it wouldn't be anything like what it is today...

Re: Can you pass the 3rd grade?

Took me two times to get it right, but the first time I didn't realize we were being timed.

But, to be honest, everything but the east and west coasts (and, of course, Texas and Illinois) was trial and error...

Michael, just wait for the tests that take us beyond planet Earth! You should leave us all in the cosmic dust!

BTW, saw where they approved the Hubble repair project. Any thoughts???

Florida - been there on holiday (mouse worship)
California - conference in san Diego
Washington - conference at Microsoft (one Microsoft way is not just the address)
Oklahoma - remembered a film on the dust bowl and the "no Okies here" signs

Paul, you really have a lot of ties to the US!

I assumed most non-natives know California, Texas, and Florida, because their shapes are unique and they all carry some noteriety. Other places like New York and Washington, DC are famous, but I don't know how geographically recognizable they are?

Ohhh.....I suck. A lot. 16 out of 48 and then 19...and that's only because I got frustrated and started dropping them anywhere.

New York isn't a recognisable shape, but you're right about Florida, California, and Texas.
I think most people wouldn't know which coast Washington is on, or that it's so far north.

    48/48 first attempt.

There is one that you have to place the countries of europe. These are fun. Geography was always one of my favorite subjects in school, hehe.

Should add went to a conference in Phoenix, but it was a resort complex and we were effectively prisoners there. No way out to see anything, except on the shuttle to/from the airport.
I much preferred the downtown conferences in San Diego, we got to see part of the town.

Well its not exactly the one that I found before but it is similar. There are a few other games as well. And no, they are not tailored to help you pass the 3rd grade.

Ooh, not so good at the European countries... I was in England 14 years ago and that was my only trip to Europe. That's my excuse. Yeah...

Did pretty well with the US capitals until I got to Frankfort. Learn something new every day, I guess... I won't give it away.
