Looks like the NFL will probably keep it's end of season tradition of firing 1/3 of its coaches. The Jets, Browns, Lions, and even the Broncos quickly canned their head coaches. This is after the Rams, Raiders, and 49ers had already fired theirs during the season. 7 out of 32 so far.
The Lions was a no brainer (0-16 has a way of doing that) and Crennel had lost his team there in Cleveland. I am surprised at the Jets firing Mangini... He was a good coach and other than Farve didn't have a lot talent or household names on his roster. But the Broncos firing Mike Shanahan is a big surprise ... I never thought they'd have the guts to do that. he certainly wasn't shy about firing his coordinators over the years.. maybe it was he who was getting stale there.
Other possible victims: the Bengal's Marv Lewis, the Texan's Kubiak, Tampa Bay's Gruden, even Green Bay's McCarthy & San Diego's Norv Turner.
These guys are starting to look like soccer coaches.............![]()
