    Hidden Talents

There was a post on another forum I frequent that I thought was pretty cool. We all get to know each other as photographers, but what other hidden talents do we have out there? They can be anything funny, serious, or anything in between.

    - I play D5 roller hockey on (officially) 2 teams, and am a sub on 2 more teams
    - I've ridden my MTB down a hill going about 30 MPH on a trail about 8 inches wide at night with only two headlights
    - I've been kicked out of 3 arcades (including one at Disneyland) for hitting people with the puck from an air hockey table. Not next to us, I'm talking about 10-20 yards away. And yes, my friends have been known to wear hockey gloves when playing air hockey against me

    - When I hiccup I have the uncanny ability to turn it into a scream only a Pterodactyl would make. It drives my wife crazy and makes my friends laugh.

I worked with and rode horses from the time I was 11, hunter/jumper. Highest I ever jumped a horse was probably 3'9.

I wrote a one player version of Pong in assembly language. For a class, but still

    Cara,
That was some short horse if you jumped it a 3'9"
How high could the horse jump?

I truly enjoy your photos- keep on shooting.

I have instructed classes for years in Karate, archery, and dog obedience classes in the past. I have also assisted in teaching a few woodworking courses.

I think the talents among people that know me well is that I have a well known ability to find something at a better price or be able to talk someone down on a price for anything I buy. Several times I have just ended up getting what I was looking for at no cost at all, Jeff

    Re: Hidden Talents

I am an excellent marksman, although I have not kept up with it over the last few years. My father was a state pistol champion in '67 and '68, and he taught me how to shoot as a child (only targets, never animals). I won a few local competitions as a child.

I'm better with a rifle, but I am quite good with a pistol as well.

I am also a very good pool player. I went in the Air Force at age 17, and for 4 years I played pool pretty much daily (too young to drink). Once I was out and 21, I gave up playing actively. I am still better than the average pool player, but nowhere near as good as I used to be.

I think that marksmanship, pool, and photography all share common threads; it's simply alignment, angles, and "seeing" the results in your mind before you pull the trigger, press the shutter, or slide the cue stick!

    Re: Hidden Talents

Talent's a weird thing. I like to think everyone's dealt the same hand of cards. But I guess that's just not so.

My stronger pts tend to be in the art areas : drawing, attention to detail, color theory, composition, etc. That's where my interests also lie. Hence why I got into photography.

I used to play the violin when I was a kid, and my teacher told me I had perfect pitch, which I had no clue to what that meant until adulthood . As you might suspect, I was shocked that people couldn't hear what I took for granted that everyone could hear.

I'm also a decent runner.. having the build for it. Not super athletic, though - not very flexible and have only so-so hand eye coordination.
