    Ahmadinejad on Larry King

A very good interview, very pertinent in todays politics. We are fed a very slanted perspective of him, please try to listen to him with an open mind. Would love to hear your thoughts on some of his responses....

This guy is definitely a smooth talker, but he's also an arrogant blowhard.. he reminds me a bit of listening to a Charles Manson interview as he tends to talk in circles... His country does nothing wrong. They're a victim. He's a victim... He doesn't mention that Iran's had its sticky fingers in boatloads of terrorism and insurrections, in places like Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, ... who knows where else. They're experts at training their diplomats in getting up on stage and indignantly denying everything. And I for one think the world will be a heck of a lot more dangerous with them having a nuclear bomb. I'm for preventing that before it happens, period.

US - Iran relations is a complicated situation. The Shah, the hostages, ... the hard feelings and mistrust are there.

I also get the feeling that Iran - aka the Persian Empire - is trying to resurrect past glory. They want that nuke bomb to gain the clout they don't have.

I'm not so sure it's trying to resurrect past glory as much as it's blowback from our foreign policy over the years.

I agree - I think Ahmadinejads requests are actually for the most part pretty reasonable.

He is a fan of my family's music !

    Full story-interesting pic( I did not take,hence cannot post,here.)

    http://http://blog.myspace.com/index...7D8E5068124173

Members of my family recently met with him,in Tehran, when a Gov. minister canceled our permit to perform. Some speak Farsi,so spoke directly with him-and liked him a lot.

I thought he came off quite well, very intelligent, and think any attempt to talk, open up communications,is going in the right direction.

Face it-,the "West" did terrible things in many countries, still does, and terrorists have done atrocious things, still do ...I witnessed some of that terror, working in inner London, one Christmas many years ago, when the IRA blew up fast food outlets, etc, close to my office.

I'm a Sufi Muslim who is used to being misunderstood ...and gets it in the neck from hard-liners who think my family and I compromise traditional values by playing modern music and entertaining folks, and Sufis who think we are too tradition bound.

-You should see my inbox, some days.........
-I'm either going straight to hell,or an angel, working for understanding between faiths, cultures and peoples..of course, neither is true-we just play music, stay out of politics and try to remind people they have a soul, and its HUNGRY.

    Re: Ahmadinejad on Larry King

Well put. Its easy for some people to divide countries and throw one in a box and call it 'good', and throw the other in the box and call it 'bad' (or, the 'Axis of Evil'), but I think as reasonable people we are called to hear all sides of the story. 'They hate us for our freedom' is not impartial and not reasonable, and not in the least bit true.

I also appreciate the direction Mahmoud is taking. The idea of a unified Palestinian country with democratic elections for both Israel and Palestine citizens seems very far fetched, but its incredibly reasonable, and the best idea to create peace in the region yet.

I like the Sufi practice, I really like the way mysticism has been so well preserved in that tradition. I've got nothing but respect for it.

By the way - broken link, could you relink please?
