    Time to buy?

First off, a little history. I left the world of professional photography on 2002. I haven't shot much since then, as I left the field with a rather bad taste in my mouth for the buisness. I purchased a D50 a couple of years ago, mainly to take pictures of my kids and email them to family. When I left, the F5 was the undisputed king of 35mm.

Fast forward to today... what the hell is the F6 and why doesn't it look like a professional camera? lol! I have an F100 that I purchased in 2001 that replaced my F4...- big mistake! So I've been searching for another F4 or F5 to get back into 35mm photography, as I am an avid darkroom junkie. I cannot believe how cheaply these cameras can be had today. It seems to me that 35mm photographers are swimming in choices that simply were not avalibe at such prices when I was getting a pay chech for snapping.

Is anyone else taking advantage of these great deals on Nikon professional 35mm cameras?

    Paradigm shift

The question should be - is there any market nowadays for professional film cameras? I don't think so. Digital has got so far ahead - an entry-level DSLR can produce something close to 6x6 film. Film has become a niche for dedicated enthusiasts (except perhaps large format for billboards)

The F6 is an updated F100. Today's equivalent of an F4 or a F5 is the D3. Today's equivalent of the F100 is the D300 or the D700.

I have a Hasselblad, a F100, a Leica - don't use them any more. I can do more, faster and better (mostly) in digital (as long as I shoot RAW and I have a good RAW processor)
