    Check this out!!!

I took this picture in almost no light and I shot it handheld at the settings below. The picture isn't great and the white balance is not right but check out the settings this HANDHELD picture was taken at. I must say that I am a happy grandpaw. This is straight out of the camera except for resizing so it could be posted. It was dark enough when I took this picture that I could not see the letters on the base at all by just looking at it with my eyes, Jeff

Looks really good, Jeff. You should be a happy Grandpaw! It's amazing that the camera/lens could see more than you.

I look forward to seeing more low-light images - always a challenge!

    Photo removed. Sorry Jeff.

You are quite right though, it is incredible what can be achieved with that combination...

The point of my post was that I took a picture with not only a 200mm lens at 1/8 sec, that it also had a 2x TC on it when I did it and I shot it handheld. It is a lousy picture but it does demonstrate that you can shoot very slow shutter speeds even with this combination if your hands are steady enough, Jeff

Footski, please feel free to put your photo back up. All I wanted to do is make sure the point I was attempting to make came across. You are always welcome to join in on any post or thread I put on any of the forums. I evidently didn't word it good enough because I had the same thing happen on another site. The point I was trying to make was that with this combination it is still possible to take a picture with a very slow shutter speed such as 1/8 sec if your hands are steady enough, Jeff

The one you posted was much better than mine. All I was doing with mine was testing to see how slow a shutter speed I could shoot at. You could probably tell that by the composition and the white balance, LOL

Frog, now that you mention it the Christmas tree is still in my den.

    Re: Check this out!!!

Okay Jeff, here is my example. Taken, handheld, on a Nikon P300. 400 ISO and f1.8 at a half second. Not great but just shows what can be achieved with modern cameras, even after a few drinks too many!!
