    SB 600 flash info

Does anyone have a great link for on-line information to help me get the most from my SB 600 flash?

..or if you just want great on-camera results,
    look at this:http://www.dembflashproducts.com/flipit/

Thanks Oldgearhead. I need to invest a lot of time on strobist. I may be able to find out more by exploring that site but I was initially interested in the SB 600 specifically and how to make adjustments on this flash, how fast I can shoot my d80 in flash mode, how to override the automatic settings, etc. I'll spend more time on the strobist site and see what I can find there.

I'm not a SB600 user, but I can tell you a couple of things. The max sync speed for your D80 is 1/250. That is not limited by the flash but rather by the camera shutter. As far as using manual mode, all I can tell you is that you will have to set the power, zoom, and make sure to turn off the power saving mode so it doesn't go to "sleep" in between shots.

..for on-camera inside its 'P' on my camera dial, and i-TTL on the flash. Outside its
    TTLBL on the flash.

Any 'P' mode on the camera or TTL mode on the flash is not manual. In both cases the camera is still making the decisions. To go truly manual, select 'M' on the camera or in the case of the flash I think it is 'Manual'.

..for off-camera, it's 'M' on my camera dial, radio slaves, manual '%' flash setting,
and 'trial & error', checking both the histogram and and display until dialed in. For
on camera, with the Flip-it, I just haven't found any settings better than 'P', with
    'matrix metering' of course.

Daniel - or anyone else that can answer this - how do you turn off the power saving mode on the sb600 ? "so it doesn't go to sleep between shots" I have been trying to figure this out lately since when I use it wireless it goes to sleep and doesn't fire alot of the times.

    thanks !

I looked through my manual and on page 21 it says " The standby function does not work in the wireless flash mode regardless of the SB-600's settings" I don't have mine with me right now but I didnt see how to turn it off, Jeff
