What accesories are needed for Nikon D80

I hope to be placing an order shortly!
This is the list I have below. What else would you recommend? Jeff

Nikon D80 10.2MP Digital SLR Camera (Body only)

    Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom-Nikkor Lens

Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Nikon SB-600 Speedlight Flash for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

Nikon EN-EL3e Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery EXTRA BATTERY

I would also like a couple of two gig cards. Have any recommendations?

How about filters. Names and brands?

Anything else that needs to be added?

Re: What accesories are needed for Nikon D80

A bag to carry it all in ?
I use a crumpler "brian's hot tub" and it has worked well.
Good weather protection, even in a thunderstorm, and it doesn't have CAMERA written all over it (OK crumpler does say geek perhaps).

2G cards, I use Lexar and Sandisk, nothing else.

    Filters?
Anything as long as it's multi coated, generally Hoya in Europe.
Though my circular polariser is Canon because it was cheaper !

Some people swear by the clear UV filter just to protect the lens.
    I swear at them.
Personally I don't use UV filters as protection for the front element, as even with Super Multicoated filters I've had reflection of the car headlights in night race shots.
I find that the lends hood is adequate physical protection.

    For landscapes ...
    Tripod?
    Remote release?
    Graduated Neutral Density filter?
... if you do that sort of thing.

    Macros ...
    set of extension tubes?
    PAul

I use a B+W Kaesemann circular polarizer on my 18-200, and its wonderful. A kaesemann is different from traditional circular polarizers because of the way its built. It is completely sealed with no large gap between the two glass elements, so you cant get dirt/water in there. Maybe the IR remote for landscapes or if family/friends/etc want you to take holiday pictures or anything like that. Its pretty cheap anyway.

I use hoya and B+K. circ polarizer and uvs on 3 lenses. Tripod.
I like this remote that I talked about earlier d80 remote alternatives

rocket blower and I also have a pen thing that I can stick in my shirt pocket. It has retractable brush on one end and an eraser type thing on the other than can be used to clean lenses and it works well without harming the lens.
I have Lexar and Kingston sd cards and they both work fine. I like the 2gig ones also.
You'll discover stuff you can't live without.
Oh! Do you have an editing program that works with NEF files? I'm using elements 5 and got a patch for raw.
Also if you're going to be shooting raw,(strongly recommend), you'll want to get the windows power toy for viewing raw files.
    I'm excited for you!
    Keep Shooting!

I like my 50 mm 1.4 and would also suggest the the multi power battery pack. In addition to holding that extra battery you listed it will also help with balancing the longer lenses. The Nikon 18-200 is on my camera 95% of the time. Wish I could get more reach than my 300 zoon lens and will need to resolve that soon.

Re: What accesories are needed for Nikon D80

Very good start! I went through the same process about 2 years back...and ended up today with the same 2 lenses & flash for my D50

Things I have purchased most recently include a tripod (scour for a good deal on ebay...look for a seller called amvona.com. I got a new, very good tripod and ball head mount delivered for $85) Photoshop elements 5 (ebay again, about $50) They are now up to version 6. You may want a circular polarizer for outdoor shots. Dont forget a bag...I am looking for one now for my stuff. Also get the remote! Its cheap and works well, and also comes with a velcro pocket holder that attaches to the camera strap so you dont lose it.

    Have fun!!
