NO, not really, I'm just jealous.

However, I have it on good authority that I've been a good boy this year and that I'm going to find a D300 under the tree on Christmas morning! :-)

Robert I think that I have used up all my good boy point for sometime with the D700 purchase. However Joy was the one encouraging me to go ahead and get it. I hadn't planned to take the leap until next April. I must say that I'm more excited about this camera and how it is preforming than I have been about any camera since my purchase of the Nikon F back in 1972.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Talking I'm more excited about this camera

"and how it is preforming than I have been about any camera since my purchase of the Nikon F back in 1972."

Now that's saying something, considering the collection of fine Nikon cameras you've accumulated!

Hey, OT, would you mind putting up a comparison shot...same settings, lens etc between the d700 and your d200.
Just wondering how much I should drool.

Good idea Frog. I'll try to put something together while I have some time over Thanksgiving and get it up as soon as I can.

I looked for you at the Gator game Saturday on TV. I kept scanning the sidelines when ever the TV cameras paned that way but didn't pick you out. For the next nationally televised game you will have to let us know what your wearing so we can wave to you.
I've read that the d700 and d3 is very similar. To what extent do you agree?

Better question for deckcadet since he has both cameras. There are lots of similarities, the big difference is the price.

From what I've read, the D700 has the same sensor, meter and focusing system as the D3 in a small D300 based body. D700s can be had for $2300 and the D3 for $4100 through reputable online dealers. To get the high frame rate of the D3 you have to add the MB-D10 vertical grip ($239), EN-EL4a ($109), battery chamber cover ($39) and a charger ($120) OR AA batteries ($5).

I opted for the D700 with grip and fancy battery and love the high ISO performance for sure!!!!! Hopefully over the next few months I'll manage to take advantage of all it's advanced features.

You're going to be in deep doo doo when you find out what it is that SHE wants, now that you owe her.
