    D300 WB/Exposure

Consecutive photos show variation in exposure and white balance. A series of 6 may cycle three times. They all have the same exposure, Fstop, shutter speed
Looking at the histogram shows a moderate shift between images.

Shooting HS football on dimly lit fields. D300, either 300mm or 70-200, F2.8, Manual settings, 2.8 and between 1/250 and 1/500, ISO 3200+ either Auto WB or Pre-set. Do not believe I have bracketing set.

Someone has suggested that the 60 cycle of the lights changes exposure but I don't this. Camera store and Nikon rep can see the problem, but have no explanation.

    Any idea?

    Re: D300 WB/Exposure

Without seeing any images (That might help if you're able to post them) if they're only showing on the dimly lit football field images, it may be the lights cycling. I used to have some hockey images that I shot at an indoor rink and I had the same thing happen.

I agree, since you're on manual it sounds just like the lights cycling.
Try it in daylight, and if the same thing doesn't happen it's the lights.
I has my 70-200 lens fail after I dropped it (for the 3rd time) and the symptom was erratic exposure.
Had to replace the diaphragm module and the image stabiliser

    Firmware upgrade

There was a firmware upgrade for the D300 two weeks ago to fix an issue with the White Balance. First step is to install the upgrade
