    Smile Choosing a Camera

    Hi,

I'm a beginner with some experience handling my friends' Canon EOS DSLR and Nikon DSLR. I guess this Christmas I would really want to treat myself to a DSLR camera.

I'm budgeting for either the Canon EOS 50D or the Nikon D90 and would like your advice on which lense i should be going with if i went with Nikon D90?

I will be using the camera for family gatherings and taking travelling photos mostly.

Most cameras come with the 18-105mm however the sales person is trying to push me the 18-50mm and 70-300mm.

    Please advise.

    Re: Choosing a Camera

    Do you mean:

    - 18-55 f3.5-5.6 VR Nikon + 70-300 VR Nikon
    - or the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 + Sigma 70-300 ?

There was someone who posted about the Sigma last week.

The 18-105 VR Nikon is your safest bet. Of the others the 18-55 Nikon is all plastic but good (I have an older version). I don't have any info on the others.

    Re: Choosing a Camera

I have a D90 that I use for taking travel photos. I'm more of an adventure traveler so I only carry one lens: the 18-200mm VR. It's a great multipurpose lens with a wide enough range to capture landscapes, buildings, people etc. It's not as sharp as some of the other lenses available, but I'd rather have the range when traveling.
