    Young birds at my feeder

    Been seeing a lot of very young birds this summer, mostly Cardinals and Blue Jays. Scruffy-looking birds, kind of in-between plumage being worn.

    I reckon this is a cardinal:


    A couple of cardinals, one with a still-dark beak:


    A Blue Jay:


    Incomplete plumage is ugly enough, but add pouring rain..... Eww!


    And then there's this guy. I hope he doesn't catch cold!!!! Bald Blue Jay:
