Gorgeous colours – can't decide which is my favourite between the first two. Maybe #1, since it shows more action, has better DOF effect and better water pattern. But I really like the crest and head position in #2. Not to mention perfect lighting. :yesnod:

#3 is OK, #1 and #2 are awesome. Keep up the good work!

Wow, what an amazing duck! Such colours and what a hairdo Excellent shots

#1 looks slighty unsharp around the head? But what a pose, strutting its feathers (must be a male ) !

#3 looks a little like they are swimming uphill, maybe you could straighten the horizon? (unless they really are swimming uphill )

#2 looks pretty perfect to me

    Well done!

I love wood ducks - such wonderful colors they have.

I've only seen them "live" and out in the open once though

Lovely pictures Eric, when you say they are from your pond do you mean they are your ducks or wild visitors to your pond ?
Mette is right about #3, they are swimming up hill, amazing !

Great shots, Eric. I especially like the first one, because it's candid. The second is technically better, but with the duck looking into the lens, it gives me the impression it was taken in a zoo or other controlled environment, not in the wilds.
I don't know what size file you have of them, but these look worthy of reporduction in a magazine to me.

Wild Visitors to our pond. Every Winter they seem to come, usually 4 or 5 of them. I have only located 2. I have another photo i took today in some outstanding lighting conditions, will post later.

Thanks to all for the kind words....

You have an impressive list of lenses, Eric. Which one did you use for these shots, and which one is your favorite?

Beautiful shots, wood ducks are so incredibly coloured. I'd love to get some shots of them.

Thanks Ron... I really like them all but I probably say I use my 200-400mm the most

Huh... I wouldn't be too unhappy if I owned those lenses, or even just some of them or even "just" the 300mm f2.8...basically I'm green with envy

I envy you far having aclimated wood ducks in your yard. They fly away in my area if you get within 250 feet....grrr
