Not an especially tall mountain, but it was an adventurous hike. Due to temperatures (mid 40s), direct sun and wind ice and branches rained down the trail. Didn't know I'd need a flak jacket and a hard hat for late winter hiking. Got slammed in the hand and the back of the neck by some pretty big ice chunks and farther up the hill found blood in the snow from another hiker who got beaned.
Went up the steep side and down the longer, shallower side and I'm really glad since the snow on the shady side of the mountain was much deeper - mid calf all the time, knees some of the time and hip deep occasionally. What a slog that would have been uphill!
Found this abandoned and wind-ravaged shack at the summit. It's next to an enormous radio/cell tower. It's tiny - about 4 1/2 - 5 feet tall. I suspect it once housed a generator or some other equipment. Sepia, grain and a slight vignette seemed to do it justice.
Didn't take any photos on the way down since the difficulty level was high and I really just wanted to get down, but it was a good hike and definitely out of the norm. Next time I'm bringing snowshoes and a hardhat.
