    A winter fiest

It must have required a special invite to go to this tree All other rowan berry trees are pretty bare by now with just a few scraggly berries left on them, so this one seemed out of this world, both to me and the birds. I've been struggling with sharpness on my bird images but things are slowly improving and this is one of the best so far. It was a gorgeous day, I could almost pretend it was spring and my Beercan was feeling happy too

Very nice shot! The squirrels have stripped everything clean in our yard. Love the beercan, but you have to get close. - TF

Thanks, TF I was actually not planning on shooting birds that day, I was going to the zoo, where the beercan is perfect. But I think the bird was so busy stuffing itself that I could get closer than usual (I've still had to crop it a little but not that much).

What kind of bird is that... maybe a female european blackbird?

Yes, Paul You're spot on! It's one of our most common birds here - you don't have it over your way?

We do indeed have "black birds" , but not that species.

Thank you, Scott Me too...If you look, you can actually see where she's just picked berry from!

Paul, I don't think I've ever seen in any shots at N&W of your black birds! I'd love to see one

I'd say it's probably your best so far. It's a beaut.

Thanks Paul! Loupey has just posted his first RWBB First time I've seen one of those!

Thanks, Mike! Grey herons apart, I would agree with you I've got some rather nice grey herons that I haven't got around to posting yet.
