    A few common birds

here's some birds from today. Finally found a good place that concentrates birds AND has low hanging, uncluttered branches with a pleasing backdrop. Wow. Guess where I will be spending a lot of time from now on? As for the photos, I am pretty happy with them for the most part - probably my best small-bird captures to date. Not bad at all, one hour well spent

    The juncos:

    The sparrows:

The nuthatch: is this a female? it was MUCH smaller than any other nuthatch I have ever seen - it was even smaller than some of the juncos, while most that I have seen are between sparrow and robin size - much larger birds as far as these little guys go. I'm not sure if it's just a young one, or a female, or if I am misidentifying it.

Great set of pixs! I really like the posture of the first sparrow.

You know you're doing something right when you can see the pupils of such small birds

As for the nuthatch, definitely a nuthatch. Other than that, I got nothing

Great shots Erik, as for the Nuthatch, it may be a juvenile as it doesnt seem to have the chestnut colouring on the rump or the full length black line from the eye, but the wing tips are'nt as rounded as normally seen in a young bird, but its a little early as they dont normally lay until April/May.
