What were they doing?

Anybody could tell me why the swallows bent to their right?

At first the one on the right did it first. A minute or so later (didn't really time it but felt like that long), the one on the left started bending to its right, too. They maintained that position for a couple of minutes before they "stood" back up together. I just found it puzzling.

I'm not sure if this is what the swallows were doing, but blackbirds do this sometimes when the sun is out to let the ultra violet light get to their feathers to help stop mites. If the sun wasn't out ,then I don't know what they were doing
