    What an eye.

    Until I took these photos, I never realized how beautiful a Red-bellied Woodpecker's eyes are. It almost reminds me of a Sharp-shinned Hawk's eye. I'm still working on the perfect shot. It's pretty much a regular to a neighbor's yard, so I'll keep trying. The first shot is posted just to emphasize the gorgeous eye.

    They remind me of a parrot eye. The color reminds me of a cooper's hawk, but lacks the intensity of a raptor.
