    And I was thinking.....HMMMMM, looks like a kind of oak, but has reddish leaves like poison ivy ;)

    Stay clear of that poison oak, that stuff is way worse than poison ivy!!!!!

    well, some drink a tea made from it as it is supposed to provide a certain amount of protection from it but i am just passing on second hand info!

    Having had both the oak and the ivy within recent months, I declare them to be exactly the same. They just look different. They bubble and itch in exactly the same horrible way. This was photographed at Las Trancas Park, about Palo Alto. No biking allowed on those trails. But it doesn't matter. It's everywhere in the Northern California right now. I pretty much always have at least a little spot of it going somewhere on my body.
