Went looking for butterflies, but all I found were these

I went to this prairie looking for the endangered Regal Fritillary. I saw some larger orange butterflies, but they were a ways a way, and flew out of sight before I could get a shot, or ID them. What I did find everywhere in the prairie were spiders, and I hate spiders!!!

It was like painting yourself into a corner with these things. I would be walking along, and notice a web right in front of me. I would turn to go around it, and there was another one! A few times I tried to set my tripod down so I could get a photo, and I couldn't find a place to set it down without destroying more webs. As creepy as they are, they do make interesting subjects.

Nice job here. I really like your first image of the first post. Perfect placement of the shadow in the background. Makes one wonder how the very first thread is laid between expanses.

I know what you mean about that feeling of being surrounded. Once you notice one, the more you look the more you find them all around you. Best to leave taking the same path going in.
