Welcome fans of the great outdoors!!!

I just want to welcome everyone to the NATURE and WILDLIFE forum. Though I haven't discussed it fully with PhotoJohn, I see no reason to limit this forum to just photos. Feel free to ask birding questions, binocular questions and scope questions too, as that's my forte. If I don't have an answer, I will try my hardest to find it !

If you think it's a fitting question or image, post away.

Congrats, and oh yeah a question...

This forum should be pretty cool, Paul. Just like when my Lighting Forum spun off from Help, it was great to have everything in one place that I could keep an eye on easily...

I've got a quick question about monculars. I think I'd rather carry a small monocular around with me than compact binocs. Could you point me to a place to get good info on what's available, or perhaps make a recommendation?

I'd like fairly decent power but don't want to spend a fortune. Obviously, I'd like it to be pretty small, too (otherwise might as well just get a spyglass, right?).

    Thanks...

    Congratulations on the new forum!

I'm really excited about the new forum! I think this one will be busy! I spent the last hour looking for my nature pics.......no wildlife.....birds.....except my hawks which I've already posted too many times.

Good for you Paul! Good for us!

Re: Congrats, and oh yeah a question...

    For you steve....

With nothing to go on, here are my suggestions

    http://www.opticsplanet.net/zeiss-5x...monocular.html

    http://www.opticsplanet.net/swift-10...cular-779.html

    http://www.opticsplanet.net/nikon-mo...r-ii-6x16.html

I have used none of these, but the FOV and power seem good to me(the wider the objective, the more light that it gathers though)

Disclaimer.... I have never dealt with opticsplanet either!

    Congrads Paul!

I ordered sunglasses from Optics Planet once this summer (old ones didn't float...), and they were as easy to deal with as B&H. Great prices and quick shipping.

Very nice. I just took a few bird pics in St. Louis that need identifying. More to follow...
