Re: Warbler Spring Migration 2011 (and others)

Here are two short (90 second) videos of the place:

First video of the second type of migration. Click HERE

Second video of what happens when a high value target is located. Click HERE

The second video is not intended to dissuade anyone from coming. Rather, it is to show how enthusiastic the place can be. News travels down the boardwalk like wildfire. Imagine when I shot the video with my cell phone in my left hand, my right hand is holding my monopod which is sticking more or less down and out 30-degrees with a 500mm mounted over my right shoulder. I've only hit one person in the head so far

As you can imagine, tripods are frowned up during the peak times on the boardwalk.

My thoughts exactly. I'd love to do a PR birding trip but I'll need to strike the lotto first; my 400mm (=) is just not long enough.

I'd also be glad to host a PR herping trip to southern IL, if anyone is interested. First or second weekend of October would be good...

Re: Warbler Spring Migration 2011 (and others)

    Thanks, Master Kraftsmann and Erik!

Keep in mind that, at this particular place, there were many times that I could not shoot because the birds would land TOO CLOSE (hard to imagine having a problem like that, eh?). I would just stand there and watch them sing, display, and eat.

My 300mm would have been perfectly suitable during those times.
