here's a snake we caught at our first destination in the shawnee national forest. This is a black racer, coluber constrictor, still maintaining the juvinile coloration. As these age, they become solid black with a white chin. These were the most common non-venomous snakes we found, I think the totals numbered around 15-20. Here are the first two that I have processed and uploaded. The best images I took of this snake have one of our group member's hands as the backdrop, but most of the shots were well focused, clear, and relatively free of distracting backgrounds.
