Tree swallow in flight - kind of

Some blind shots. Heavily cropped, of course

It's not easy to move 10 lbs of gear fast to chase these little guys, you know :blush2:

Hey, at one point, I actually turned off the AF. So you know how desperate I was

Great shots. These small birds are tough even when they aren't flying,

Honestly, I can't tell exactly now.

I started with AF, then I got tired of seeing my lens hunting for a little bird out of a large empty space, I switched to manual. So both pics could be without AF. The second one the birds just flew off the box and so I sort of pre-focused around that area in advance and adjusted when necessary, which pretty much was all the time The third one the bird was even farther away. So it was a bit easier to follow the swallow especially since it was making a big turn.

A guy came by and stood near me for a moment. He probably was wondering what I was doing since there was no eagles, no herons or any other bigger, exotic birds to be seen. He said nothing and left. But if he asked, I would have said: "I'm trying to do the impossible."

Yeah. If they were closer, no way I could have got any of them on film...so to speak.
