    Today's walk

I went for a wander near a local pond for a couple of hours. I've no idea what this first bird is...

    A cedar waxwing..

    Dragonfly

    Another I don't know..

    Timberline Sparrow, I think....

Scott, good to see you back. Great images. I am afraid that I can't help ID either of these, but I suspect the second one might be an immature of something, maybe Meadowlark or Western Tanager(?). Hard to tell without picture in flight or from the back. For example, I often have trouble identifying raptors unless I can get an image of them in flight, or drive by them sitting on a fence post.

    Regards,

I like the second to last sparrow. He almost looks like he's about to be devoured by the plant, if it closes.

The first is a house wren, the young one is a western tanager and your sparrow looks to be a clay colored sparrow(otherwise it's a chipping sparrow)

Thanks Paul! My bird book leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to differentiating sparrows...
