    Todays trip (lots o pics)

biked to a local park today ( my car was totaled a few weeks ago and bicycle is my only transport now). i was there a few days ago and saw a water snake and lots of wildlife near the biggest pond so i went back today with my camera.

i ended up stalking the northern water snake (read laying in the grass- with my shirt off for some reason- with my head down hill, elbows on the waters edge for about 30 mins before it was comfortable moving around with me there) it had a fish in its mouth until i originally scared it.

and a few other shots from around the pond

    thanks for looking.

Love the third shot, the watersnake portrait in the water. It is SOOO difficult to get good in-the-water shots of watersnakes. Nice job.

thanks Erik, i saw it swimming around there the other day, im glad a went back with my camera, although i almost missed it. i did get a bad sun burn on my back just laying ther for about an hour though. it was really cool when it decided i was safe and IT came with in abotu a foot of me. ill look back through my images and maybe send you links to a few of the other in the water portrait shots.

was totally worth the bug bites, itch grass skin, and sun burn though.

and i also realized my 18-135 is no where near as sharp as id like, or as my 60 mm macro. if i don;t spend all my money on a new car i may just need to buy a 70 or 80-200 very soon.

That must have been uncomfortable, but boy did it produce results. Great series of images love both sets.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

The third one is great!!! What a nice close-up with the motion of the tongue. It's cool that you caught him eating too.

    Thanks Dylan.

have you considered the sigma 105 or 150 macros? I know it's tough to rationalize a stable full of primes, but those are good bugging lenses too :-)

id consider getting a longer macro lense after i get a good telephoto lense.

thanks serenity, it was actually eatting on the bank when i stumbled upon it. It jumped in the water, and then i scared it again and it actually let go of the fish ( it was already dead though) so not very good for the snake, but thanks.
