Thanks, Don. I know you have been helping/following this adventure - did you see my comment in the Critique forum about NOT using different power settings on the flashes?

    Re: Today's hummingbirds

    I did Terry,

My experience is with studio strobes where you want to use a lighting ratio and I am not using TTL metering so I can only offer general lighting advice for shooting hummingbirds with flashes.

This is the old rock and a hard place situation, if you don't light evenly you don't get the shimmering colors and if you do light evenly the image is flat.

For instance, your shot in the critique forum is a great pose with good color but no contrast to show feather detail.

The above shots on the other hand have good contrast, unusual poses and the shadows are natural looking, much more successful IMO.

    Cheers, Don

Here is the original (WB only). Is the problem my post processing? - Terry

Yes, I like that image as is. Perhaps a bit of sharpening and brightness.

The proof is in the print though, I may not be seeing what you are

BTW, I'm on 22" Dell IPS panel calibrated with a Spyder3 Pro..

    Cheers, Don

Don, Same monitor calibrated with Spyder 2. I think that it may have been over-cooked.

    Bill & Eric, Thanks.

Wow, Terry, you are getting some great shots there. I am ready for the hummers to move south, I have not seen any here.
