    Todays Hawk Photos

Today, the Red Shouldered Hawk did not show up for his photo secession until just before the rain arrived. It was cloudy and very dark. I had to shoot at ISO 1600 at shutter speeds as low as 1/40 sec (thank goodness the Canon 70-300 has Image Stabilization). Even with the bad lighting, I got a few usable images.

I hope so........ I have 11 squirrels back there. He is trying but apparently he is just learning to hunt. See the blood on his feet and legs - he must have captured something. The stump he is sitting on is hollow, and he has a squirrel trapped inside of it, but eventually the squirrel escaped.
