    Thanks to Everyone.

I entred a couple of images in the Septembers birds in flight competition in the BBC Wildlife magazine and was thrilled to find that 1 image had made highly commended (No 1 image in the "Highly commended" section - Canada Geese flying down river) and the 2nd image had made "commended" -(No 8 image in the commended section- Sparrow with Mayfly) its just a shame that they have left names off.

You can look at the images and others on www.bbcwildlifemagazine.com , click on Photo masterclass, then Septembers "Birds in flight", perhaps others might be interested in future competitions here, they cover various subjects each month.

The reason for this post is to say "thanks" to the help that i have received on this forum, from the moderators, and members, and this has helped me build my confidence in my images to entre competitions. Thank you.

    Re: Thanks to Everyone.

A quote from their website "everyone whose pictures are showcased here have achieved an exceptional standard of photography."

I'm glad you think that we on the forum have helped you achieve that, and I for one look forward to your future successes in other competitions.

Looking through those images, I don't see why the judges picked what they did.

It might be a good group exercise to look through all the commended, highly commended, and winning images and see why they fit into those categories. I'd certainly learn a lot from people's comments on those.

Thanks mjs1973, Copy_kot, Smartwombat and Loupey.

Im certainly no celeb Loupey, i would love half the knowledge that you have on photography and cameras, and that you show and share here on the forum along with people like Smartwombat and Paulnj (but if you would like to keep calling me a celeb, I think i can handle that!!)

I think thats a great idea Smartwombat, the feedback on that would be interesting and knowledgeable.

    Re: Thanks to Everyone.

Did we mention the membership fee to this forum once you get recognised for your imagery

I can tell you that the first 3 commended images are CAPTIVE and that's why. The puffin, gannet and barnecked geese images are far better than they are rated and the highly commend images are are for the most part far better than the top 3 images that are junk in my mind . If they won, I wish I kept those images I deleted due to lack of quality

Thanks Paulnj, being one of the competitors i think i would be wrong to criticise the winning images, but..... its interesting the points that you raised along with Smartwombats, and others (not in this forum) and their opinions on the winning images, sometimes we wonder what judges are actually looking for and what you have to produce to impress, but along with people help and encouragement, like on this forum, and the determination to get that "Wow" image, it keeps you submitting them!
