    Test for the bird nerds...

Hi Paul and the bird nerds...this guy kept flying around me to let me know I was in his territory. This shot was pretty well in focus, but because he kept flying into the sun, I had a hard time keeping my exposure and focus in tune. But, this was a pretty nice capture and I may be able to salvage it...but wanted to have a little fun as well...
    So...What is it???

Now this looks all too familiar

I've used the same technique to get a bunch of shots of the MALE RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD. They like to fly behind you, right? Spinning around to try to follow them is quite fun :mad2:

    I knew it would be....

for you experts. I'll have to admit, it was fun trying to keep him in focus. I really got a work out. On pic 1, I like the way the light comes emphasizes the wing feathers. I may just leave it like this, because of that.
Here is a much better view of him.
BTW Paul or others, why do some of the Red Wings, have red and white wings??

Re: I knew it would be....

Well 2 species of "redwinged blackbirds" exist.

One is basicly a california bird called the "TRICOLORED BLACKBIRD" They have the same red/yellow of the typical redwinged, but have white between the red and yellow.

Now onto the real RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD. Their are 2 distinct subspecies (I am sure they can be broken down even further, but no need to in the real world). One has just a red wing patch, while the typical one has red and YELLOW. The yellow does get faded at times and depending on the area(interbreeeding between subspecies is one cause I would assume), but I have never seen one with WHITE and red wing patches ;)

Thanx Paul...yes...you are right...it is more of a yellow stripe...I have seen some that were so faded that they looked white, but I didn't pay that close of attention. I'll pay more attention now to the detail, now that I understand!!! hehe...
