    A Tangle of eagles

Caught this sequence yesterday on the coast of Oregon. The young male made the kill, the young female took over and then big Mama took over, kicked everyone's butt and flew off with breakfast for the kids. I would have liked to have had a little more shutter speed, but had to take what I had.

    Re: A Tangle of eagles

I am not an eagle expert, but the first two birds involved in the action do not appear to have completely white heads. Close inspection shows some dark feathers mingled in and therefore i judged them to not be "fully mature". This may not be correct..Let me know what you think about that assumption, Also the last one in the action which had a completely white head, was clearly physically superior to the first two, one of whom cleared out after the butt kicking and the other just stood by in "respect".

your theory makes perfect sense. hard to see in small images as I am sure you know.
