I got out Sunday for a few hours and wandered with my camera for the first time in a while.

Shot a whole bunch of this wasp...not happy with any of them though but this was the best...


Saw this along one of the trails, neat colour...

These fellows were way out in the slough. These are heavily cropped even using my 80-320 zoom with the 2x teleconverter but I couldn't resist trying for them.




It wasn't until I processed this that I realized this beetle was carrying babies...


I finished up with a shot of this little guy. Usually chipmunks in the wild are real shy but this one had found or knocked a plant onto one of the boardwalk trails and wasn't leaving it just because I came along.


I'm hoping to start getting out more with the camera, it sure is relaxing.

Cool! Love that beetle with the babies (or mites)!

I quite like the swan images - especially the first one. The dreamy feeling and the reflection in the water might lend itself nicely to the Orten Effect. Though I've never tried it, here is link to how the effect is done:

Thanks Loupey for this link, very interesting and might give it a go, although i get plenty of blurry images just by clicking my shutter button down!!!

Thanks Loupey, that's an interesting idea. I'll definitely have to play with that, it looks like fun!

Not babies on the beetle, looks more like parasites.
I love that chipmunk shot, a definite cute "aaah" image that'd sell.

i agree they appear to be mites on the beetle. but great shots all around other wise

I have to agree with you all, they are more likely to be mites of some sort on the beetle.
