Stygian Owl (Brazil)

I got home from a month in SE Brazil on Sunday night. What a wonderful country for bird photography!


It's tough to decide what images to share first but I thought I'd start with what was actually the first bird I put my lens on - a Stygian Owl!


After arriving in to Sao Paolo and driving to my first reserve it was quite an amazing surprise to find this rare bird and have it pose so nicely for the first images of the trip. Definitely a great start to this journey!

Wow - that's very cool! What flash? Did you use any kind of light modifier or is this just straight flash?
