    Started The New Year Off...

By taking photo's around the backyard. While working in the yard yesterday, I noticed a sheen on the pond from the pollen and dust. (A week ago, this water was clear.) I decided to get out the camera and take some photo's. I finished off the Provia 100 in the N80 then I got out the Coolpix 5700. Here are a few that I liked...

First shot is of the sheen on the water that caught my attention.

Second shot is grass in the water.

    Third is some catbriers.

Fourth one is one I like for the reflections.

Really nice, speed. Love all of them, especially the last one with the reflection. The first is interesting since that looks like water that has had something like gas, or oil, spilled in it.
Be interesting to find out what caused it.

I know what caused it. It is primarly pollen (there may be a little dust in there too). You wouldn't think pollen would give the water that oily look, but it does.

During the peak of the pollen season, I've seen ponds and ditches go from clear one day, to looking like someone poured gas in them the next. And it was all over the county. I work for Environmental Health, and we get complaints about this from time to time, because folks just KNOW that someone spilled gas in their ditch.

Thanks for the comments, and I hope your New Year is off to a great start!
