    I don't usualy like to post something without including the common and scientific names, but on this one I just have no clue.

    Great image! Do you by any chance have a wider shot so I can help ID that tree? It very well may be a Tupelo gum tree from the look of that fruiting body

    Common Buttonbush, Cephalanthus occidentalis, N.E. Florida.

    Hey, Almo - great shot! I saw your horizontal one but this version is a standout. The subject looks totally alien and this image has what it takes to "stop viewers in their tracks".
