Very interesting set up. How do you like the LumiQuest softbox? I have had one of them on my wish list at B&H for a while, but since I don't use my flash much, I haven't ordered one.

Those mites are so tiny - I've never thought about what it would take to photograph them.

Thanks for taking the time to show us your rig. I have those same softboxes for my 430's as well. The only thing I don't like about them is that nasty sticky velcro tape you have to permanently place on your flash. But I see that you are using a quick tie strap instead

I used to do that with a 2 1/2 foot extension tube made from cardboard roll out of a tinfoil box, gaffer tape, and my 50mm 42mm lens all on the old Zenith E.

Your setup looks a lot more portable !
Very useful to show the setup.

I love the LumiQuest softbox, I wouldn't use my flash without it... I can't imagine how many pictures I would not have taken if I didn't use my flash.

The only problem I have had with the softbox, is it's size. It's size has prevented me from getting into some tight places, and it is the reason for the electrical tape on my flash bracket... I had to tape the off camera shoe to keep it from swiveling around when I bump the softbox against something (I placed a small flat piece of wood against the back side of the shoe and bracket, and then taped it in place).

I used four quick ties to form a rectangle around the flash, it has worked pretty well so far

I would love to see some of the pictures that were taken with that set up. 'DYI" is great, kind of rewarding in it's own way

Thanks to this post, I think I will be adding a reversing ring to my next order at B&H. I would really like to get the MP-E 65mm 1-5x macro lens, but I'll give the reversing ring a try first.
