    Sparrow from St. Louis

    I think this is a house sparrow, but it looks a little different than those I've normally seen. Would you agree on the ID, Paul?

    Most definately a male European house sparrow! It does look a bit different than those I see on the east coast, but it is also slightly different than those I seen it Arizona too ;) Bird species are variable throughout their range. For instance the Willow flycatcher has atleast 7 subspecies ;) Since this is an invasive species, birders don't care to split them off into locality subspecies.
