    Some Seagulls

Here are some gulls I was able to photograph while at Mono Lake. This was one of my first real attempts at bird photography. Enjoy!

BTW, I just realized the first picture has a bunch of black dots in it. Its not a dirty lens or sensor... Its a bunch of little black flies!

Oh! i just love number 2. It can be a real pain to get one doing that. WTG.

Number 3 is nice aswell, but i woulda's liked to see some space foward of the gull for him to move into.

    Re: Some Seagulls

I am not very good with western gulls, but I think you have 2 califoria gulls and a western gull at the bottom... don't quote me though.

I like the action in the first two, but think the framing is a bit tight for my taste.

    thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comments! I'm definatly learning more and more as I keep shooting. Getting the composition right in camera is somethin I do need to work on. All of these shots were cropped in PS. I did a few changes in them and I acutally like them a lot more now. Adjustments were cropping, levels, high pass sharpening, and saving for the web.

Much better comp, but I think the second would benefit from a 400 widex600 high verticle comp that still includes both GULLS( "seagull" isn't a real bird , just a term people use.. wink wink)

Growing up here in CA, I've always grown up calling them "seagulls", probably cause I'm pretty close to the ocean. Its all good though.

    Re: Some Seagulls

I like the composition better in each of these in the second post. Very nice, you've caught their actions well. You could try a bit of dodging on the body and head of the third shot.

    Re: Some Seagulls

Everyone calls them seagulls, but infact they are just gulls. If found at a bay are they baygulls(get it bagels)? If found in a field are the fieldgulls(3 points for that funny one huh)
