    Some different species from this weekend - Pt.1

    Have been trying to stay active as our heavy birding season winds down. Days are getting much hotter now, and many species have moved North for the summer. With that, though, we also get a migration of odd birds from the South, many of which are only here for a couple months (the Swallow Tailed Kite is one such species). Anyway, here's just a quick assortment, and even one I don't know. Hoping someone can ID the Duck. Enjoy:

    Unknown Duck - Can't locate this one in my bird book. Might be common, as I'm not very up-to-speed on waterfoul.


    Roseate Spoonbill:


    Ruddy Turnstone in breeding plumage:


    Glossy Ibis. I don't like his head angle much, but I do like the fact that you can see the reflective behavior of his plumage:


    Yellow Crowned Night Heron on a nest. I hate the stick through the head, but no good angles through the trees. May not keep this one.:

    I was able to ID the duck as a Fulvous Whistling Duck.
