snakes and bugs, as per the usual.

Just a handful of things from today's snaking trip - likely to be the last serious snaking excursion until fall.

racerunner basking in the early morning sun.

    voucher shot.

one very pregnant, very mad gartersnake

    blue racer

    eastern hognose

cool snakes. couldn't get this one to play dead though, some just won't do it.

jumping spider, 50mm macro + 25mm extension tube. Y axis is full frame.

a robberfly that had just molted at 2x life size.

    1x.

Definately worth waking up at 4 AM for. Hope you like them!

Great shots! Did you say that you saw all those snakes in one day? Where do you go snaking?

    Thanks SNM and everyone!

These are all from a morning in kankakee county IL. Snakes are very common animals, if you know where to look!
