    Snake In The Grass

Wildlife isn't my usual thing but I found this guy in my yard yesterday and couldn't resist taking a few pictures of him (or her) - especially since he was such a willing subject. Anyone know what kind of snake this is?

The photo was taken with the Nikon D4 and AF-S 28-300mm VR zoom lens - currently in house for testing.

    Re: Snake In The Grass

Looks like a regular garter snake. They seem to have a lot of variations in color. They don't have those markings here in W Washington but maybe they do in Utah.

Looks like that lens did a good job.

Thanks for commenting, Frog. I think this is one I saw last year that was just worm sized. They live underneath my front steps. I'm always psyched when I see one. The markings are interesting. I'm no snake expert but he looks like a little python to me. He was very calm and made for a very good photo subject
