Because I think there is something on that pile of sticks on a pole.
With only 300mm and 1.4x on the 1D I didn't have enough reach, you can see these are teeny tiny crops.
I have a suspicion that with binoculars I'd have seen an eagle on that nest ?

That's an Osprey nest with an osprey in it! Perhaps one of the very same birds you photographed some time ago?

Shot was taken the same day, so likely.
This is off to the right of the entry road to Fort Desoto park, same park where I photographed the other Ospreys in the distance from the beach opposite the skyway.
If I'd seen that bird at the time, I'd have told Angie to go to sleep in the car while I waited for a food delivery
