My girlfriend and I visited the beach yesterday, and while I was photographing a mixed flock of Black Turnstones, Dunlins and Black-bellied Plovers, I noticed this pair of pale birds amongst the flock. I wondered at first if they were leucistic Dunlins, but then I realized their beaks are shorter and straighter. From my field manual, I think they are Sanderlings. Can anyone confirm this for me, or give me an alternate ID, please? Thanks. It's always exciting to capture a new species.
