Ross's Goose at the Viera Wetlands

As I'm sure, you have heard that a Ross's Goose has been sighted at the Viera Wetlands over the past two weeks. Today I finally got to see it and take a few photographs.........

Nice images Ira. My bird book suggests that this is a rare sight in Florida, so good capture. Maybe its range is expanding or it just took a wrong turn somewhere around Kansas or Arkansas.

Yes indeed, the Ross's Goose is a very rare sight in Florida. On the other hand, however, we see some Snow Goose every year.........

The Ross's Goose is smaller than a Snow Goose by about 1/3. In fact when I first saw it, I almost passed it by because it looked like a large seagull sitting on the water. Here are some more photos that give you a better idea of its size.....

VERY nice find in FL indeed! I use to find a few every winter, but haven't seen one in a few years( no time to take the trip to the coast )
