    Red milk portrait

here's a red milksnake from my collection, lampropeltis triangulum syspila. Locale is union county, Illinois. Can't seem to get out to brave the cold for some winter shots, so shots from the collection are de rigueur for a while. On top of the cold weather (who decided this whole "winter" thing was a good idea?) the only wild reptiles in chicago are birds, and even those are limited to sparrows, pigeons and seagulls. I'm considering stalking the alleys in search of possums and rats, at least they are a little bit more interesting than the other warm blooded critters here...ah well, just another four months of misery :-(

What beautiful colours, not my favourite beasties im afraid to say, but that doesnt make them stunning subjects to photograph, another great image Eric.

Same here with the birds, if they are not being blown into oblivion with the high winds at the moment, the rain is keeping them away, its dark by 4pm so days are short, hurry up spring!!

I'm with you guys, who needs winter? No reptile hunting for me either for another few months.
    Beautiful image, Erik!
